EARTH OVEN BUILDING FOR BAKING BREAD AND OTHER GOODIES This course covers the mixing of clay for building the oven, properties of fire and clay, properties of clay as a building material, construction of the oven, techniques for building the oven and laying out of the fire bricks. The construction of the oven is done in three layers and ends with cutting and extraction of a door. The oven will then be earth plastered. Due to the type of materials and drying time required this course can only run for a few hours each day. MICRO ELECTRONICS AND THEIR USES WITH RENEWABLE ENERGY Come and have some fun learning how to solder some bits and bobs together and then type some simple commands to make it do meaningful things. This course is for anyone who would like a practical introduction to basic electronics and will focus on building some circuits using an ultra simple to use yet extremely powerful microcontroller. These are suitable for all sorts of renewable energy control systems. A small kit of pieces will be provided to be assembled and programmed that you can keep. SUSTAINABLE INTERIOR DESIGN & DECORATIVE EFFECTS The course will look at the use of limewash for interior decoration. Trainees will be given the opportunity to experiment with mixing different colours, and handmade wax recipes, as well as using commercially available eco-friendly paints, on wood and lime rendered/plastered surfaces.
